WORLD PEACE
Peace is not only an absolute necessity for us in India in order to progress and develop but is also of paramount importance to the world. How can that peace be preserved? Not by surrendering to aggression, not by compromising with evil or injustice but also not by talking and preparing for war. Aggression has to be met, for that endangers peace. At the same time, the lesson of the last two wars has to be remembered and it seems to me astonishing that inspite of the lesson we go the same way. The very process of a marshalling of the world into two hostile camps precipitates the conflict which is sought to avoid, It produces a sense of terrible fear and that fear darkens men’s minds and leads them into wrong courses. There is perhaps nothing so bad and so dangerous in life as fear. As a great President of the United States said - There is nothing really to fear except fear itself.

विश्व शान्ति
प्रगति और विकास के लिए शांति न केवल भारत में ही नितांत आवश्यक है बल्कि विश्व के लिए भी यह सर्वोच्च महत्व की है। इस शांति को कैसे बनाये रखा जा सकता है? न तो आक्रमण के समक्ष आत्मसमर्पण करके, न बुराई या अन्याय के साथ समझौता करके, न केवल बातें करते रहने से और न ही युद्ध की तैयारी करते रहने से। आक्रमण का प्रतिरोध किया जाना आवश्यक है क्योंकि यह शांति को संकट में डालता है इसी के साथ ही पिछले दो महायुद्धों से मिली शिक्षा को भी याद रखा जाना चाहिए किन्तु मुझे यह बात आश्चर्यजनक लगती है कि पिछले महायुद्धों से मिली शिक्षा के पश्चात भी हम उसी मार्ग पर जा रहे हैं। विश्व को दो शत्रुतापूर्ण शिविरों में विभाजित करने की प्रक्रिया संघर्ष को उग्र रूप प्रदान करती है जिससे बचने की आवश्यकता है। इससे मनुष्यों में भयंकर भय की भावना उत्पन्न होती है जो मनुष्य के मष्तिष्क को प्रभावित करती है तथा उसे अनुचित मार्ग अपनाने को प्रेरित करती है। सम्भवतः जीवन में भय से बुरा और भयंकर कुछ भी नहीं है। जैसा कि संयुक्त राज्य के एक महान राष्ट्रपति ने कहा था- स्वयं भय से बढ़कर अन्य कोई भय नहीं है।
